Remember, these moving companies will
be in charge of your valued possessions for a few hours to a few days, depending
on the distance of your move. You want to find a company that will handle your
items with the care and consideration they deserve. Below are a few key questions
to ask moving companies when you are relocating.
1) How long has the company been in business?
2) Does the company have any complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau?
If so, were they resolved? You may want to check out moving companies? status
with the Better Business Bureau yourself, in addition to asking the companies
themselves.
3) How do they plan on moving specialty or fragile items, such as hot tubs,
antiques or cars? Will they use a third-party moving company for this work?
Add your own questions to this list as needed. Be sure to note the level of
customer service you are given by the sales agents at the moving companies you
contact. Are they courteous? Are they patient with your questions? Do they answer
your questions in detail?
When getting an estimate from moving
companies, ask whether it is binding or non-binding. Account for possible cost
overruns in your budget, such as additional furniture or boxes you may not have
been able to account for when you originally talked to the moving companies sales agents.
