Below are some tips on how to rent a
moving truck, and what to look for when choosing a moving truck rental company.
Following the tips below could help you have a smooth move to your new
residence.
1. Get prices!
Moving truck rental pricing structures may vary ? some companies may
charge for mileage, some by the day. Be
sure to know whether you need to fill the gas tank on the moving truck before
you return it.
2. Make reservations at least a week
ahead. Some seasons and weekends
are more popular than others for moving, so be sure to call as far ahead as
possible to reserve your moving truck before your move.
3. Be sure you (and anyone else who will
be driving the moving truck) have proper documentation, such as driver?s
licenses, a credit card and insurance. Ask
the moving truck company what your will need to show them before they turn the
truck over to you.
4.
Rent the right moving truck for your needs.
If you are moving a small apartment with very little furniture, you will
not need a huge truck ? maybe even a van will suit your needs.
Be sure to work with the moving truck rental company to get the right
size vehicle.
5. Be sure to inspect the moving truck
when the keys are turned over to you, but before you leave the rental parking
lot. Note any scratches or damage so that you will not have to pay for something
you did not do! Note how full the fuel tank is and what the mileage on the
moving truck is.
6. Drive safely and wear your seatbelts!
